A grand jury on Tuesday indicted Roy Lee Neal, 30, Lubbock for theft between $2,500 and $30,000.

Officials said Neal was arrested as part of a bait and track program.  Police set a trailer out as bait to see if anyone would steal it.

In September, Neal was found to be “in possession of stolen wheels and tires.”

Neal was charged in 2011 with felony theft.  Specifically, he was accused of fraudulently taking more than $20,000 from an elderly man in late 2010.  He was sentenced to 10 years of probation.

After Neal’s arrest in September, prosecutors requested that his probation be revoked for several reasons.  He was accused failing drug tests for both methamphetamine and cocaine.  He was also accused of not paying restitution to his victim in the 2011 case.

That’s in addition to the allegation of theft for which he was indicted Tuesday.

A hearing is scheduled in February to determine if Neal violated terms of his probation.  Neal was not listed Tuesday evening in the jail records of the Lubbock County Detention Center.
