A Lubbock jury found Joshua Jackson, 31, of Lubbock guilty Wednesday for possession of marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds.

Evidence in court indicated that Jackson was caught with 164.44 pounds of hydroponic marijuana in April of 2015.

Testimony in court indicated that Jackson was on his way from Chico, California to Lubbock.  Officials said he had 10 carbon lined bags with the marijuana inside.

Officers pulled him over along the Clovis Highway just outside of Lubbock.

The defense argued that officers violated Jackson’s fourth amendment constitutional rights because there was no probable cause to stop the vehicle.  In other words, there was no traffic violation.

Officers testified that they were anticipating Jackson because they were working with a confidential informant.

The sentencing phase begins Thursday.

CORRECTION: We originally reported that the punishment range is between two and 20 years. However, because of enhancements due to his prior criminal record, the range was 5 – 99 or life.
