A judge sentenced Juan Antonio Martinez, 47, of Lubbock to 75 years in prison.

Martinez pleaded guilty last week to burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony. Martinez appeared in court Tuesday for a sentencing hearing.

In November 2015, Martinez’ wife was determined to take her car from Elizabeth Lopez even though the wife did not have the title.

A police report accused Juan Martinez of entering Lopez’ home in the 2300 block of 38th Street with a knife.

In the court hearing, Martinez was quoted as saying to Lopez, “Give me the keys to the car. If you don’t give me the keys to the car, I’m going to do something.”

“I’m gonna show you how it feels to get hit,” Martinez was quoted as saying.

There was testimony that Martinez tried to stab Lopez with a knife but was only able to stab her arm.

The judge referred to Martinez as a danger to society.

There were actually three charges against Martinez for which he was sentenced to 75 years, 75 years, and 50 years.

But the prison sentences will run concurrently.  In other words, he will only serve the longest sentence which is 75 years.
