Aleata Aragon Johnson, 38, of Lubbock was sentenced to 8 years in prison on Thursday. Johnson was accused of shooting an injuring his step-daughter’s boyfriend in April of 2015. The police report indicated that the victim, Roy Smith, was one year younger than Johnson.
Police responded to what was described as a domestic violence situation in the 2400 block of 23rd Street.
“The suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim in the leg,” Lubbock Police said at the time. “The suspect fled the scene.”
He later turned himself in. Johnson will get credit for time he already spent in jail.
