David Lee Brewer, 61, of Lubbock pleaded guilty Wednesday to bank robbery in federal court. Previous court records said Brewer robbed Prosperity Bank, 1701 Avenue Q, on December 17.

On Wednesday Brewer admitted that he used a note with the words “is a robbery.” He also admitted he was caught with so-called bait bills from the robbery.

Previous court records said a Prosperity Bank employee flagged down a responding Lubbock Police officer and directed the officer to Brewer and his vehicle.

Brewer led officers on a vehicle chase that ended with his arrest on Globe Avenue near the intersection of Municipal Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. There were no injuries in the robbery or the chase.

Brewer will be sentenced at a later date to no more than 20 years in prison.
