For the 25th consecutive year, Lubbock Meals on Wheels partnered with Sara Lee, United Supermarkets, KAMC, and KLBK, for the “Feed a Friend – It’s as Easy as Pie” fundraiser.  Lubbock Meals on Wheels receives no government funding and we are not a United Way agency.  We rely completely on private funding and the Lubbock community.  As our community continues to grow the need for our services also grows.

Thanks to the hard work of over 300 volunteers, the checkers at United Supermarkets, our sponsors, and the generous Lubbock community, we raised $64,245.93. This translates to 12,850 meals, helping people remain at home, well fed, and independent.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all of those who were kind enough to donate and volunteer during this event.  Thanks to Sara Lee Pies, The United Family, KLBK, and KAMC for sponsoring this annual event.  We appreciate all of the radio stations that helped promote our fundraiser.  It wouldn’t be the same without the annual pie eating contest and all of those fun loving contestants.  Congratulations to this year’s pie eating winner, Chris Abers, general manager at United on 82nd & Frankford!  We are extremely grateful for this support from our generous community which helps us fulfill a significant need in our community and serves as a reminder of the true reason for the season.
