Lubbock Neighborhoods Invited to Participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2

Lubbock area residents, The City of Lubbock Police Department and Lubbock United Neighborhood Association (LUNA) are partnering with the National Association of Town Watch for National Night Out, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 beginning at 6 p.m. Neighborhoods throughout Lubbock are invited to join 38.3 million people in over 16 thousand communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.

National Project Coordinator, Matt Peskin said, “This is a night for America to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”


National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. Together, we are making that happen.

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

City of Lubbock Chief of Police Greg Stevens said, “The Lubbock Police Department is excited to take an active role in this year’s National Night Out. It will be a great opportunity for our officers to engage with the community on a personal level.”

National Night Out is designed to:

3 locations is Lubbock will host a kick off to National Night Out festivities with other neighborhoods across the city hosting community gatherings of their own. Kick off locations are West End Neighborhood at Armando Duran Park (26th & Kewanee Ave); Chatman Hill Neighborhood at Booker T. Washington Park (21st & Birch); and Caprock Neighborhood at the YWCA Sun & Fun Center with Redeemer Church (3101 35th St.).
