The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is hosting a second Lubbock Outer Route public meeting on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the Lubbock-Cooper Performing Arts Center, 16302 Loop 493, Lubbock, Texas 79423. Displays will be available for viewing at 5:30 p.m. and the public meeting, including a formal presentation, will begin at 6 p.m.
The purpose of the public meeting is to present proposed project information and route locations and receive public comments. The proposed project would upgrade and widen FM 1585, from US 87 to US 62/82, by converting the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided freeway with frontage roads and ramps. Interchanges will be developed at cross streets. Additionally, interchanges and direct connectors will be constructed at US 87 and US 62/82. The proposed improvements would require additional right-of-way and would result in commercial and residential displacements within the project limits.
Maps showing the proposed project’s route and design will be displayed at the public meeting and on the TxDOT website. This information will also be available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Lubbock District Office, 135 Slaton Road in Lubbock.
Verbal and written comments are requested and will be received at the public meeting. Written comments may be submitted for a period of 15 calendar days (until September 7, 2016) following the meeting by mail to District Engineer Steven Warren, P.E. at 135 Slaton Road, Lubbock, TX 79404-5201, by email to steven.warren@txdot.gov, or by fax to (806) 748-4380.
The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending who have special communication needs or needs an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the TxDOT Lubbock District Public Information Office at (806) 748-4472. Requests should be made at least two days prior to the public meeting.
