An arrest warrant made public on Friday described what led to the arrest of a “person of interest” in the murder of Mark Ysasaga.  EverythingLubbock.com was the first to report that Christian Castro, 19, is a person of interest on the Ysasaga case.

Police said that officers arrested Castro and Devon Gonzales, 20, for aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping.

The arrest warrant for Castro was not available late Friday. But the one for Gonzales was available, and it told the story of how the two planned to rob a 19-year-old man at his residence in the 4900 block of 11th Street.

Gonzales and Castro knocked on the man’s door at about 4:00 am Thursday. The arrest warrant for Gonzales said Castro was holding a gun in each hand.

According to the warrant, when the victim opened the door, Castro fired one shot into the ground. Gonzales and Castro forced their way into the house and the warrant said Castro held a gun to the victim’s head. They stole marijuana, money and other items including a garage door opener.

The warrant said they forced the victim out of his home to go with them. Before they could get far, the victim ran back in the house. Gonzales and Castro left.

But they still had the garage door opener. So, according to the warrant, they thought they could come back and rob the same victim again. Instead of finding the victim they encountered Lubbock Police.

After a vehicle chase Gonzales was arrested. Castro escaped. The arrest warrant did not say how Castro was later found.

According to the police department’s written statement both Gonzales and Castro were held on a $250,000 bond.

Lubbock Police issued the following statement Friday afternoon:

On Thursday, June 4th, 2015, the victim told investigators that two Hispanic males knocked on his front door at approximately 4:00 a.m. The subjects, one armed with a gun, forced their way into the home, and took several items. The suspects attempted to take the victim by force to another location but were not successful. Both suspects fled the scene. Sufficient probable cause was developed to obtain an arrest warrant. The suspects have been arrested and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Facility where they are being held on $250,000 bond.
