The City of Lubbock Police Department is currently recruiting applicants for an upcoming test date for a new class of officers.
“The city of Lubbock is growing. Our chief has set forth a goal to hire 100 new officers in the next year, to keep up with that. We want to make sure we provide a top rate customer service,” said Sergeant Corey Nunley with Lubbock Police Department.
Sergeant Nunley says the best way to get the word out for hiring was through placing the signs all over the city. He says they have received a large amount of applications.
“It is a lot more successful than other forms of advertising. Since placing the signs up within a couple days we have had over 100 applications,” said Sergeant Nunley.
Sergeant Nunley says that he has noticed several different reasons as to why people want to join the force.
“Especially in the wake of crimes against police officers people have come out and said ‘enough is enough.’ They want to be a nation of law and order and they want to take part in that,” said Sergeant Nunley.
