Lubbock police officers enforcing the new parking policy at Lubbock International Airport on Monday.

In order to ease congestion the airport created a cell phone waiting zone so drivers have a place to park and wait to pick-up passengers.

“It’s a convenient thing instead of congesting the terminal or risking a fine,” said traveler Darian Brewer, using new cell phone waiting area.

The airport has also added a designated waiting area for taxis and Limos as well as areas for shuttle buses.

A taxi driver for Checker Cab of Lubbock agrees with the new parking policy.

“So, it’s going to make things a lot better for the customers.”

Multiple LPD officers patrolling the terminal and enforcing the no parking rule. Some travelers said having police presence helps with security.

“Go to the cell phone lot, keep this area clear and secure,” said Terry Fowley visiting from San Antonio.

LPD officers were giving verbal warnings Monday afternoon and for those who don’t comply will issue fines.

LPD also says if you leave a car unattended by the airport terminal it will be towed.
