Last night, Friday, April 22, 2016 at approximately 8:10 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 3300 block of Grinnell Street. When officers arrived, they located the scene of the shooting but no victim. Officers then received notification that a shooting victim had arrived at UMC Emergency Room via personal vehicle. The victim told officers that he had an on-going dispute with one of the suspects and had been receiving threatening messages from him. He then received a phone call from a friend stating that the suspect and some of his friends jumped him in the area of Grinnell Street and Indiana Ave. The victim and his friend went to the 3300 block of Grinnell Street where they found the suspect. The victim and the suspect got into a physical confrontation. During the confrontation, a black Chevy Tahoe pulled up and four suspects, two Hispanic males and two black males, got out and surrounded the victim. One of those suspects pulled out a handgun and began shooting at the ground in the direction of the victim striking him twice in the legs. The victim fell on the street and the suspects began kicking him before they eventually fled the scene in the black Tahoe.

The victim was taken to UMC by his friend with non-life threatening injuries.
