On July 1, 2015, at approximately 2:50 a.m., patrol officers responded to possible shots fired in the 3000 block of Duke Street. While in the area, they received an update that a gunshot victim was at UMC and was possibly related to the shots fired call on Duke Street.

The victim told officers that he and his girlfriend were driving eastbound on Duke Street when he saw two suspects standing outside a residence in the 3000 block. One of the suspects raised a rifle and began shooting at the victim and his girlfriend as they drove by.

The driver was struck once in the neck. He drove himself to UMC with a non-life threatening injury. The female passenger was not injured.

The suspects were not located. Detectives are investigating.
