Lubbock Police have launched a free public crime map, which the department said was implemented partially to show transparency.
The map, developed with BAIR Analytics, “is intended to help the public get a better idea of the crime activity in their area so that they can make more informed decisions about how to stay safe,” LPD said.
Crime data from the department is used to “make it easier for the public to stay informed about crime,” according to LPD.
In order to protect victim privacy, RAIDS Online, the operator for the site, “cleans” the data, and “displays it on the website to the public so citizens can be aware of the events that occur in their area and take action to stay safe.”
In order to access the free service, visit LubbockPolice.com, scroll to the bottom of the home page, and click the RAIDS Online link. Enter the information you would like to search, and select the dots that pop up to view more information.
Mobile versions are available at the iOS or Android app store.
