On Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at approximately 5:01 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a crash with injuries at South Loop 289 and Utica Ave.
A 2015 Subaru Forester had been traveling westbound on the main lanes of 4400 South Loop when a tow hitch crashed through the front windshield and struck the front passenger. The victim, Dorothy Martin – 81 of Porterville, California was taken to UMC by EMS where she later died.
Investigators with the Lubbock Police Department Accident Investigation Team were called to the scene to investigate. Several witnesses have come forward and mentioned a green F-250 or F-350 4 door pickup with a headache rack that was in the area and possibly witnessed the accident.
