The United States Postal Service will open one Lubbock location for 4 hours on Sunday to accommodate residents who wish to mail items before the holidays.
The Singer Post Office, located at 4901 S Loop 289, will remain open on December 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Lubbock Postmaster Steve Olguin recommends residents mail holiday items as soon as possible, so they can be received before Christmas.
“We do have an extra day… to provide opportunity to mail packages,” Olguin mentioned.
Olguin also stated that U.S.P.S. would also be participating in a rare Sunday delivery day.
“We’re also going to deliver packages on Sunday (December 18). We don’t normally do that. We’re going to do that this weekend, on Sunday, and we’ll have somebody out on Christmas day as well,” he explained.
Monday, December 19, is expected to be the busiest mailing day of the year, with more than 611 million pieces of mail processed, according to Olguin. He said Wednesday, December 21 would be the busiest delivery day of the year.
