Interested persons/prospective volunteers should make plans to attend all classroom sessions of the scheduled training within that training series. The Lubbock Series will begin June 29 at CASA of the South Plains, located at 24 Briercroft Office Park, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The series will continue with the following dates in July: 2nd, 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. The 34-hour training includes: classroom + at home assignments + hands-on (case-related observation). CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. The CASA Advocate is appointed by a judge to advocate, or speak for, a child or children in foster care. CASA of the South Plains’ mission is to recruit, train, and support a diverse community of volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. CASA of the South Plains’ vision is a CASA volunteer for every child; who strives to secure a safe, nurturing, permanent environment for every child.
