Over the course of about three hours, Lubbock Police responded to nearly 50 weather-related calls Thursday afternoon.

They included 19 traffic issues including signals out, blocked roads, debris and downed power lines. There were 28 calls for stranded drivers.

Two houses were evacuated by Lubbock Fire Rescue at 23rd Street and Avenue W. LFR responded to 55 calls between noon and 4:00 pm including 13 high water rescues.

Major road closures included the main lanes of Interstate 27 at North Loop 289, Marsha Sharp Freeway at University Avenue, and 2800 block of Avenue Q.

Jones AT&T Stadium at Texas Tech was flooded. There was also flooding inside the United Spirit Arena but events for Thursday night in the USA were still scheduled to go forward Thursday evening.

The number of power outages in Lubbock varied throughout the day. At one point it was more than 200 homes or businesses without power from LP&L.

More thunderstorms were in the forecast for Lubbock Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
