O’Connor said she hasn’t seen any hesitation from travelers in Lubbock and she doesn’t expect to for the rest of the year.
With recent immigration crackdowns and travel bans, some United States citizens have been hesitant to travel outside of the country. But one local travel agent said she hasn’t seen a change in her business since President Trump took office.
“I’ve been in business for 27 years and this has been a record year,” said Deborah O’Connor, owner of Bell Travel Services.
O’Connor says she has noticed this upcoming spring break several people have decided to travel to Mexico.
“Most people I have booked so far for spring break have been going to Mexico. Cabo seems to be the hotspot,” said O’Connor.
Texas Tech student, Tyler Trammell, said he doesn’t think our current political relationship with Mexico will affect anybody’s travel plans.
“I am an American citizen I don’t think they are going to hold my passport if I were to try to go over there then come back. It’s more of a resort town, if you’re going to go off the resort you might find some trouble in that situation,” said Trammell.
