The Lubbock Sportsman’s Club, Inc. and the Sheep Dog Impact Assistance group held an event Saturday at the Lubbock Shooting Complex for area veterans and public servants.
The event encouraged injured or retired soldiers, police officers and firefighters to stay active outdoors and in the community.
Those in attendance Saturday took to the range to practice their shooting skills.
“As an organization in referencing societies protectors the men and women that serve in the military, law enforcement, fire and rescue communities we refer to them as sheep dogs society’s protectors, protectors of the flock,” said Lance Nutt, President of the Sheep Dog Impact Assistance group.
“We like to engage them, keep them active, get them up off the couch. Reminding them that whether its an injury sustained in the line of duty or just an end of duty served that they need to keep active and stay engaged in a positive lifestyle,” Nutt also said.
The group often assists disaster in response missions, giving these men and woman a chance to serve once again.
