Mary Saathoff, long-time President and CEO of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, announced yesterday her plans to retire by the end of the 2016-17 season. The Board will form a search committee and will conduct a national search for her replacement.
Dr. Saathoff was first hired as Interim President and CEO on November 1, 2006, and then was appointed to the permanent position in February 2007. Under her leadership, the orchestra has grown in both fiscal and artistic stature and is one of the country’s best regional orchestras for a city the size of Lubbock.
At a meeting with donors yesterday, Dr. Saathoff said, “The Lubbock Symphony has given me the greatest opportunity of a lifetime. It was the perfect fit at the right time with the right people. It has been a remarkable ten years.”
Harry Zimmerman, President-Lubbock Region of Prosperity Bank and current Chair of the Board says, “Mary Saathoff will be sorely missed by the staff, musicians, board of directors, and patrons of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and it will be a difficult task to fill her shoes. We will begin the process of searching for her replacement in the very near future and we hope to find someone who can uphold the very high standards established by Mary over the past decade. We are all indebted to her for the vision and dedication she has brought to the LSO and we wish Mary all the best in this next phase of her life,” said Harry Zimmerman, Chairman of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors.
