The Texas Department of Public safety released information Thursday afternoon concerning an accident the night before in Nolan County. DPS said Jeffrey Thomas Poole, 34, of Lubbock was driving a passenger car northbound on State Highway 153.
DPS said Poole “attempted to pass a vehicle in a non-passing zone (curve) and crashed into [a minivan].”
DPS said the minivan was driven by Wayne Kohut, 55, of Colorado Springs. The minivan carried three passengers.
DPS said Poole suffered, “incapacitating injuries” and was airlifted to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo. Kohut and two of his passengers were treated in Sweetwater according to DPS. His third passenger was also airlifted to Shannon Medical Center.
Conditions were dry and clear. The speed limit along that area was listed as 75 miles per hour.
According to LinkedIn, Poole is a teacher at Coronado High School.
Lubbock ISD released a brief statement concerning Poole. LISD said, “The injured teacher is medically stabilized. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time.”
