The United Family® and Mrs Baird’s Bread® [Thursday] announced the December and January recipients of the fourth annual Lubbock Teachers On The Rise program. The three December winners include Nancy Boyer of Parsons Elementary (Lubbock ISD), Marisa Lopez of Olton Junior High (Olton ISD), and Sue Vernon of Frenship High School (Frenship ISD), while Travis Walden of Preston Smith Elementary (Lubbock ISD), Jana Davis of Olton Middle School (Olton ISD), and Cassie Sanders of Coronado High School (Lubbock ISD) were honored for January.

These winners represent the fourth and fifth group of instructors to be honored for the 2015-2016 school year. Winning teachers each receive a $100 gift card to United Supermarkets, Market Street or Amigos, as well as a $100 VISA gift card. The students who nominate a winning teacher also receive a $50 VISA gift card.

“We thank these amazing teachers for their hard work and contribution to our youth’s bright futures,” said Shelby Crews, senior community relations manager for The United Family. “The Teachers On The Rise program provides an opportunity to reward standout educators for the vital work they do each day.”

Three more South Plains teachers – one elementary, middle school and high school – will be named Teachers On The Rise in February and every month for the remainder of the school year. To nominate a teacher, visit MrsBTeacher.com and explain why your teacher(s) deserve special recognition.

Teachers On The Rise is also sponsored by the Texas Classroom Teachers Association, 102.5 KISS-FM, News Talk 790 KFYO and the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance.
