The Amarillo VA Health Care System will host a one-hour CHOICE College for Veterans Thursday, May 4, 2017, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and repeated from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Lubbock VA Outpatient Clinic, 6104 Avenue Q South Drive.
This educational session is designed to clarify how the Veteran Choice program works and how Veteran patients can get services in the most efficient way. Topics covered will include the different Choice programs, what to expect when referred for non-VA care, and what to expect after they see the provider in the community among other topics.
Choice College is open to any Veteran whether they have an appointment in the Veterans Choice Program now or not. VA staff will distribute easy-to-understand, step-by-step information. Experts will be on hand to answer questions privately as well.
The Veterans Choice Program was enacted by Congress in 2014 through the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act. This Law provides funding for VA to purchase care for Veterans in the local community when it is available. There are several parts to the program and Veterans may qualify for one or more at any given time.
