Last night, Friday, July 8, 2016 at approximately 11:08 p.m. patrol officers responded to a report of a crash with injuries at the intersection of 38th Street and Ave P. A 2002 Chevy Suburban was northbound in the 3800 block of Ave P. A 2004 Chevy Tahoe was eastbound on 38th Street. The driver of the Chevy Suburban ran the stop sign and collided with the Chevy Tahoe. The Suburban had five occupants and two of them, nine and seven year old males, suffered serious injuries. They were both taken to UMC. The remaining occupants were uninjured.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe got out of her vehicle and fled the scene on foot failing to stop and render aid. Officers located her a short time later at her residence in the 1300 block of 38th Street. She was uninjured.
She was arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Facility and booked in.

The Lubbock Police Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and is investigating the crash.

NOTE: Police said the suburban had five occupants. However, a family member said there were five children and one adult for a total of six.
