Armelinda Maria Castillo, 31, of Lubbock was sentenced Friday to serve 33 months in prison for misapplication of bank funds by a bank employee. Castillo admitted that between April 2009 and April 2012 she stole money from Westex Federal Credit Union. A factual resume did not list the exact amount, but she was ordered on Friday to pay restitution of $690,000.

Court records said, “Castillo embezzled money in amounts that most often ranged between $100.00 and $1000.00 at a time. Castillo admits she used the money to cover costs for herself and for other people.”

Court records said, “She also admits that she deposited most of the money into accounts at Westex Credit Union that were in her name or in the name of her boyfriend.”

* NOTE: The court docket said she was sentenced on Friday to 37 months. It said she was then re-sentenced to 33 months.  The docket did not say why the sentence was changed.
