Lula Mae Kimbrough is turning 100-years-old on Tuesday, March 15th but she was given a special birthday party on Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene.

One hundred people were expected to attend the centenarian’s birthday. Seventy-seven of those attending were immediate relatives.

Four different groups representing five generations of the family were present.

A family member said she knew about the party, but her surprises.

Lubbock City Councilmember Karen Gibson was also on hand and ready a proclaimed from city officials declaring Tuesday, March 15 as “Lula Mae Kimbrough Day” in Lubbock.

Kimbrough was also presented with an American flag that flew over the U.S. capitol in Washington from a representative from Congressman Randy Neugebauer’s office.
