Job statistics released this past Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission show Lubbock’s unemployment fell to 3.0 percent during the month of April.
An estimated 152,600 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area were employed last month. This was a slight increase from the estimated 152,000 in March. These figures are not seasonally adjusted.
The unemployment rate just one year ago was also 3.0 percent for the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area.
The Texas Workforce Commission said the Amarillo area had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.7 percent last month. The Austin-Round Rock area was ranked second at 2.9 percent. Lubbock was ranked third in the report.
The unemployment rate in Texas rose slightly to 4.4 percent in April.
