Job statistics released this past Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission show Lubbock’s unemployment fell to 3.8 percent during the month of August, down from 4.1 percent in July.
An estimated 151,600 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area were employed last month. These figures are not seasonally adjusted.
The unemployment rate one year ago was also 3.6 percent for the Lubbock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
The Texas Workforce Commission said the Amarillo MSA had the lowest unemployment rate in the state last month at 3.4 percent. The Austin-Round Rock MSA was ranked second at 3.5 percent, followed by the Lubbock MSA at 3.8 percent.
