Job statistics released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission show Lubbock’s unemployment fell to 3.6 percent during the month of September, down from 3.8 percent in August.
An estimated 151,500 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area were employed last month. These figures are not seasonally adjusted.
The unemployment rate exactly one year ago was 3.4 percent for the Lubbock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
The Texas Workforce Commission said the Amarillo MSA and the Austin-Round Rock MSA both tied for the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.5 percent. The Lubbock MSA was ranked second at 3.6 percent, followed by the College Station-Bryan MSA at 3.7 percent.
