Job statistics released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission indicated Lubbock’s unemployment rate rose during the month of February.
February’s local unemployment rate was 3.7 percent, up from 3.4 percent in January.
An estimated 154,400 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area (MSA) were employed last month.
The Texas Workforce Commission said the Amarillo MSA had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.6 percent.
The Lubbock MSA tied with the Austin-Round Rock MSA for the second lowest unemployment rate in Texas.
The Brownsville-Harlingen MSA had the highest unemployment rate at 8.2 percent.
The unemployment rate in Texas also rose slightly in February to 4.9 percent.
