Job statistics released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission indicated Lubbock’s unemployment rate rose during the month of March.
March’s local unemployment rate was 4.0 percent, up from 3.7 percent in February.
An estimated 154,800 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area (MSA) were employed last month.
The Texas Workforce Commission said the Amarillo MSA had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.5 percent.
The Lubbock MSA and Midland MSA both tied for the third lowest unemployment rate at 4.0 percent.
The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission MSA had the highest unemployment rate at 8.5 percent.
The unemployment rate in Texas also rose slightly in March to 5.0 percent.
