Lubbock’s Unemployment Rate Rose Slightly in December 2016, Texas Workforce Commission Says

Job statistics released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission show Lubbock’s unemployment rose to 3.2 percent during the month of December, up from 3.0 percent in November.

An estimated 151,200 residents in the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area were employed last month. These figures are not seasonally adjusted.


The unemployment rate exactly one year ago was 3.1 percent for the Lubbock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).

The Texas Workforce Commission said the Amarillo MSA, Austin-Round Rock MSA and the Lubbock MSA all tied for the lowest unemployment rate in the state last month at 3.2 percent. The College Station-Bryan MSA was ranked second at 3.4 percent.
