Several local business and community leaders have worked with Lubbock native, Coach Jerry Gray of the Minnesota Vikings, for about 14 years now helping his foundation to send mainly Estacado kids to Tech. He offers worthy students assistance with  $1,000 scholarships which Tech matches. He has helped send over 20 kids to Tech in the last few years. He plans on sending more.

Furthermore, he has sent over 70 young people  to a pro football game which he coached. It all started in Buffalo when he was the defensive coordinator of the Bills in 2002. We had 2 young men from Estacado High School in Lubbock  go on that trip with about 5 or 6 community leaders. After the game, our 2 students were walking off the field with the starting QB for the Bills, Drew Bledsoe. On each side of Bledsoe was a young man from Estacado. Man, were they excited.

Now this group, Friends of Jerry Gray, want to invite you to a lunch on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:45 at the MCM Elegante at 801 Ave. Q to hear Jerry talk about the work of his foundation which is helping local youth to go to Texas Tech  – to be someone. He will also talk about why Sherry and him come home every summer. Last, he will talk about the importance of being a Dad. As he works on drafting NFL players, Jerry is always curious if a young prospect was raised by 2 parents. He is looking for stability and he is always researching that.

No Cost for lunch which will be burgers or sandwiches. If you have  given a donation or already signed up for Jerry’s annual golf tournament which raises money for his foundation to send kids to Tech,  come out and meet and visit with Jerry. If you have not given, please bring a donation for the foundation. Love to have you there. Shoot, he might even talk about Adrian Peterson or Teddy Bridgewater of the Vikings.
