The north court of the South Plains Mall will reopen Thursday according to a written statement from the mall.
A few retailers had to close because during the last week of December, 11.2 inches of snow caused the skylight in the north court to come down. No one was injured.
The South Plains Mall was not alone in suffering property damage because of the storm. The Bryon Martin ATC, a local car dealership, a furniture store, and local apartment complexes suffered either roof or canapé collapses.
“Shoppers and retailers are invited to join us Thursday at 9am for coffee and donuts,” a written statement said, “as we thank our retailers & guests for their continued patience as well as the tireless crews on site for working around the clock to have South Plains Mall back to business as usual.”
“All north wing retailers including, Lenscrafters and Red Raider Outfitter will be open as well as Women’s Dillard’s,” the statement said.
“The unprecedented winter weather left an impact on not only South Plains Mall but the entire city,” said Beth Bridges, Senior Property Manager, South Plains Mall. “We are thankful for the expedient work from Interstate Restoration taking care of the enormous snow load and progressing so quickly to restore our center to business as usual.”
