A grand jury indicted Danny Ray Davis, 55, of Lubbock Tuesday for allegations that he strangled a 90-year-old woman to the point where she nearly passed out.

A police report said in April Davis got into an argument with the woman who was his landlord.  She was on the porch of a home in the 3100 block of Teak Avenue, and he was in the front yard.

The argument escalated according to the police report; he walked up to her and put his hand on her throat.  The report used the words choke and strangulation.

The police report also said, “[Davis] pushed her to the floor causing pain.”

When police arrived, “[Davis] advised no type of violence occurred between himself and [the victim].”

Police didn’t believe his story.  He went to jail and has been in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond since that time.

The woman claimed to be in pain but declined to be taken to a hospital with EMS.
