Man Arrested, Accused of Throwing Portable Crib With Child Inside

Lubbock Police arrested Jordan Lynn Stone, 22, of Lubbock for a state jail felony charge of endangering a child and misdemeanor charge of assaulting a family member.

Police were called to the 4600 block of 52nd Street at about 3:30 Thursday morning for a domestic disturbance.

Police found a woman who had been dating Stone and had a child with him.  According to a police report, the woman said Stone came home after a night of drinking. She said he came into the bedroom where a child was sleeping in a portable crib.

A police report said, “[The victim] advised that [Stone] became angry at one point and picked up the crib with [the child] still inside and threw it a short distance, causing [the child] to wake up and cry.”

“[The victim] advised that this placed her in fear for the immediate safety of [the child],” the police report said.  “During the continuing altercation, [Stone] struck [the victim] in the face and in the right leg near her calf with his open palm. This caused [the victim’s] skin to become red and swell slightly.”

The police report said the woman was visibly shaken up and crying.  It also said she was hesitant to give any information that would get Stone in trouble.

Stone was held Thursday in the Lubbock Co. Detention Center on bonds totaling $7,500.

Lubbock Police said the child was not injured.
