Richard Shawn Bradley, 51, of Abernathy was arrested late Monday night after a crash involving a Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputy at 89th Street and Milwaukee Avenue.
As of Tuesday morning Deputy Ryan Burns was still listed in critical condition at University Medical Center. Burns was expected to need surgery through most of the day for his injuries.
Bradley was charged with failure to stop and render aid, failure to report an accident, and failure to yield the right of way.
Eyewitnesses said Bradley’s pickup truck collided with Burns’ SUV. The SUV then hit a power pole.
Lubbock Police investigated the crash and said, “The LSO Deputy was traveling southbound on Milwaukee Ave when a white 2011 Chevy [pickup truck] traveling northbound … failed to yield the right of way.”
The truck was turning left according to police.
