One man is facing felony charges after evading police and crashing into an Odessa home.

While patrolling the area of 16th and Harless, officers with the Odessa Police Department saw a red Ford truck go over a curb and strike a no parking/pedestrian crosswalk sign just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officers activated their emergency lights but the Ford accelerated and took off heading south on Harless. The Ford then went west on Park before running over a fire hydrant and crashing into a residence located in the 1200 block of Alameda.

The driver, identified as Jesus Humberto Nieto Jr., then fled his vehicle on foot. Officers pursued and found witnesses with Nieto, who was lying on the ground near some bushes.

Officers searched Nieto and found cocaine inside of his front right jean pocket.

Nieto was charged and arrested and transported to the Ector county Law Enforcement Center. While at the jail, Nieto was found in possession of more cocaine.
