An Oklahoma man has been arrested after presenting a firearm at the Abilene Regional Airport then impersonating a U.S. Marshal when contacted by police.

An arrest report says James Moody, 57, has been charged with Unlawful Carry of a Weapon and Impersonating a Police Officer after an incident at the airport that happened around 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

Abilene Police responded to a report of an armed subject after Moody presented a firearm to an airport fireman, an initial investigation revealed.

Responding officers found Moody sitting in his car, and when they asked him to exit with his hands up, he “stated that he was a U.S. Marshal and tried to get [police] to submit to that authority,” according to the arrest report.

Moody was eventually taken into custody without further incident, and other firearms were found inside his vehicle.

He’s being held in the Taylor County Jail on bonds totaling just under $19,000.
