BIG SPRING, TX —  Big Spring Police has arrested a man in connection to a shooting Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Cherokee following a shots fired call. 

When they arrived on the scene, they found David Morales, 38, had been shot in the arm.

Morales was  transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center by the Big Spring EMS. 

Witnessed on scene informed officers that a black Altima had pulled in front of the residence at which time a verbal argument between the driver of the Altima and Morales began. 

The driver, found to be 22-year-old Johnny Rodriguez, fired approximately three rounds in the direction of Morales then sped away. 

Big Spring Police Department officers located the Altima and Rodriguez at his residence, 1607 Harding. 

Rodriguez was taken into custody on a warrant for his arrest for failing to pay child support. 

Detectives later executed a search warrant at 1607 Harding locating a silver .22 caliber revolver which is believed to be the firearm used in the shooting. 

Rodriguez was then also charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
