Jose Armando Pacheco-Aragonez, 21, was arrested Wednesday evening in Lubbock in the 5900 block of 59th Street for aggravated assault/family violence and attempted murder.

An arrest warrant was issued for Pacheco in Hockley County related to an incident in May of 2016.  Officers were dispatched to Covenant Health Levelland.  The warrant said a woman was treated there who was the victim of an assault.

An arrest warrant said the woman was pregnant.  The warrant also said Pacheco used a hand-made club to hit her in the abdomen “attempting to kill the baby.”

Officials charged Pacheco with assault/family violence for hitting the woman and attempted murder for trying to harm the unborn child.

Pacheco was held Thursday morning in the Lubbock County Detention Center on bonds totaling $200,000.  Arrangements were made to take him to the jail in Hockley County.

The Facebook page for the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office said, “We received citizen information about Mr. Pacheco-Aragonez’s location and because of the cooperation with, and efforts by, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, he was apprehended last night in Lubbock.”
