Wichita Falls Police arrested a man early Tuesday morning who reportedly fought an officer, ran away and then tried to swim away from authorities in a drainage ditch.
Officers responded to a shopping center parking lot around 2:00 a.m. at Southwest Parkway and Kemp.
A group of people were reportedly drinking in the parking lot. One of the individuals got into a fight with an officer.
During the scuffle, authorities said the suspect caused damage to a vehicle.
The man then ran away from the parking lot and across the street where he then jumped into a drainage ditch at Rhea Road.
Police said the man tried away in the drainage ditch. He eventually turned around and was taken into custody by authorities.
The man is facing charges of evading arrest, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.
No word yet on his identity.
