A Lubbock County grand jury on Tuesday indicted Luis Coronado-Romero, 44, for aggravated sexual assault of a child.  Officials said the victim was 13-years-old.

The incident was on July 5.  Officials said the victim told her sister who then told her grandmother.  While officers were on scene in North Lubbock to take a report, Coronado-Romero was seen driving by.  Officers arrested him and he has been held in the Lubbock County Detention Center since that time in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

If convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child, Coronado-Romero would face a possible penalty of 5 to 99 years or life in prison.

Coronado-Romero was also held Tuesday because of his federal immigration status.  Federal court records did not provide additional details concerning his immigration status as of Tuesday evening.

He was also facing charges for burglary and attempted burglary.
