Officials said on Wednesday that Noel Caudillo, 42, died overnight at University Medical Center.
Caudillo was found by his brother in a home in the 300 block of East Rice Monday night. Caudillo was in a chair that was on fire. The brother put out the fire before Lubbock Fire Rescue arrived on the scene.
Caudillo was taken from the scene by EMS to University Medical Center with severe burns.
A statement from LFR said, “The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate and reported that the fire was contained to the chair that was on fire.”
“We don’t believe that anyone else was involved,” said Garrett Nelson with the LFR Fire Marshal’s Office. In other words, LFR believes Caudillo set the fire.
