Officials with the City of Midland have identified the man who was shot and killed by police Monday night.

The suspect has been identified as Kheyanev Littledog, 19, of Midland, according to a release.

At about 7:30 p.m. Monday night police were called to an area just southeast of downtown Midland about a man who was causing a disturbance and had a weapon, according to a release.

Officers located the suspect, later identified as Littledog, in the 500 block of Industrial Avenue and found he had a gun in his waistband, according to the release.

Police officials say while confronting Littledog, he reportedly reached for the gun in his waistband, prompting Officer Aaron Trevino and Officer Aaron Renz to fire their weapons.

Littledog was transported to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced dead, previous reports indicate.

Littledog was reportedly found with two firearms during the investigation.

Renz is a patrol officer with one year and ten months at the MPD while Trevino is a K-9 officer who is a seven yeart veteran with the department, according to the release.

Both officer have been placed on administrative leave.
