A man was found dead after a house fire in Brownfield on Thursday night, according to emergency responders. The fire was reported on South 6th Street, near West Harris Street around 7:30 p.m.
On Friday official released the name as Jesse Russell, 30.
Brownfield Fire Chief Dennis Rowe said a neighbor called in and said, “There was a house on fire.”
“When we got here, it was heavy smoke showing and somebody said that they thought somebody was in the house,” Rowe said.
“After we got it knocked down. We did a search and we did find a man,” Rowe stated. “We’re still investigating the call.”
