A man was killed after crashing into an electric poll near Tornillo early Friday morning, according to El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Investigators said Ascension Rodriguez Amaya, 59, was headed east along the 17000 block of Alameda Avenue around 2:30 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, went off the road, hit some residential fencing, and then hit the pole.
Amaya’s vehicle came to a rest in a field, deputies said.
Power was knocked out to a few homes in the area as a result of the collision. All but one had power restored by late Friday morning.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
