David Velasquez, 53, was sentenced to 20 years in prison Friday morning at the Lubbock County Courthouse. He was accused of aggravated sexual assaulting of a girl under the age of 14 back in 2003 in Lubbock.
Separately, in 2004, Velasquez was convicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child in Lynn County. He has been in prison serving a 30 year sentence.
The 20-year sentence was in addition the 30 years.
Officials said Velasquez was a family member of the victim. He had been living with her family in Lynn County. Officials said on two occasions he brought the girl to Lubbock and raped her.
Officials also said he kidnapped her and took her to Taylor County for nine months and raped her repeatedly. She left behind a note saying she was running away, but officials said Velasquez forced her to write the note and she not a willing participant.
