Family and friends will host a candlelight prayer vigil for David Emerson who has been missing since December 24, 2014. The vigil will be Friday, December 23, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 208 37th Street in Snyder.
Emerson has ties to Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, and Snyder. He went missing in Snyder after his cousin’s birthday party.
“He left with his roommate and nobody heard from him since,” said Sonia Gonzales, an advocate for the family.
According to Gonzales, the roommate said Emerson went to Lubbock but police and the family have not been able to confirm that.
“We’ll just have a brief sermon,” Gonzales said. People will be able to “share their memories” of Emerson, she also said.
Candles with drip protectors will be used if anyone wants to bring them, Gonzales said.
The family is struggling with the mystery of his disappearance.
“His brother and sister … they help me quite a bit searching for him and trying to get information,” Gonzales said. “His mother, she is heartbroken, devastated. Some days she has hope that he’s coming home. Other days she doesn’t know if he’s coming home.”
“It’s just a hard place for his mother to be.”
The public is welcome to attend the prayer vigil. Anyone with information to help find Emerson can call local law enforcement or a tip line at 810-294-4858.
* Correction. Friday, the night of the event, is December 23 not the 24th.
